Nik Wallenda, King of the High Wire, is the first person to walk a tightrope stretched directly over Niagara Falls.

The 25-minute walk was performed before an estimated crowd of 112,000 people on Friday, June 15, 2012. Millions more watched a live television broadcast on ABC. With a steady pace of measured steps over 1800 feet of wire, Nik Wallenda accomplished his childhood dream. He crossed the widest part of the gorge of the roaring falls battling winds and near-blinding spray to make history. The walk followed a two-year legal battle with both the Canada and United States border to obtain approval. For his next feat, Nik is planning a death-defying wire walk across the Grand Canyon. Nik Wallenda holds six Guinness World Records for various acrobatic feats and is a seventh-generation member of The Flying Wallendas.
